Its white skullcap can be picked out from a long way off, some say even from Marseille! Rising to 1912 m this "Giant of Provence" or "Olympus of the Midi" is home to such a wide range of flora and fauna that it was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1994. The Mediterranean vegetation at the base gives way to cedars, then beech and a variety of pines, culminating in a stony desert at the top. It has two viewing sites where the landmarks are indicated on a table, as well as an observatory, a meteorological station, a radio transmitter and a radar station for the air force.

|
Activities
- Cycling: Mont Ventoux is a great favourite for cycle races.
- Skiing on the north-facing slopes
- Numerous hiking trails. Sunrise seen from the summit is an unforgettable experience. If the sky is clear you can see as far as Mont Blanc. But cover up well - it can be very windy. Legend has it that the Mistral starts from a cave on the mountain.

Sites around the mountain
- Visit the magnificent valley of the Toulourenc to the North.
- Lavender has always been cultivated at the foot of the mountain. The best time to see it is at the beginning of summer, before the harvest.
